Lake Wind Advisory
Statement as of 11:14 am EST on February 9, 2010 |
... Lake Wind Advisory remains in effect from 7 PM this evening to 7 PM EST Wednesday...
A lake Wind Advisory remains in effect from 7 PM this evening to 7 PM EST Wednesday.
Winds will increase across the area tonight as an area of low pressure intensifies along the mid Atlantic coast and high pressure begins to build into the area from the west. The tight pressure gradient will produce breezy conditions across the area. Winds under 10 knots early this evening will quickly increase to 15 to 25 knots from the west overnight. On Wednesday winds will increase to 20 to 25 knots with gusts around 35 knots from the west. The winds will gradually decrease Wednesday night to 15 to 20 knots by morning.
Precautionary/preparedness actions...
A lake Wind Advisory indicates that winds will cause rough chop on area lakes. Small boats will be especially prone to capsizing.
